What is the purpose of Smart Cater?

Customers use Smart Cater to order catering and meals from multiple caterers and restaurants on a single platform quickly and easily.

What steps have you taken to provide a reliable and trustworthy service?

Smart Cater only adds fees required by the caterer, and nothing more.

Your bills will always display exactly what the caterer’s charges are, including meal costs, tax, delivery, and tip. We never mark-up any expenses, and all costs are completely transparent.

We have a vast variety of trustworthy caterers and restaurants. The order requirements or minimums are what is specified by the caterer. Send us an email (support@smartcater.ca) if you want to see a caterer added to our network.

Can I pick up the Order myself?

Most our caterers offer delivery. You can always grab your order via take-out.

About your caterers?

Our inventory features a vast variety of dependable caterers and restaurants. Caterers specify their own order requirements and minimums. Send us an email (support@smartcater.ca) if you think our network should include your favorite caterer.

Can I place an order very much in advance?

You can place orders several days or months ahead of time. We regulate every upcoming order carefully. Your credit card is only charged on the day the order is placed.

Are there any cancellation fees?

Although there aren’t any cancellation fees, each caterer might need to bill you for food prepared already. Contact Us for assistance.

What if I lose my receipt?

You’ll never lose a receipt with Smart Cater. A detailed receipt will be emailed to you upon completion of an order, which will be permanently stored in your Receipts page. Click the “Expense Report” button to print any receipts, if desired.

When will I be billed?

On the day of your event, your credit card will be billed.

Is there a delivery charge for my order?

If the caterer charges a delivery fee, it will be shown upon placement of your order.

What are the credit cards do you accept?

Smart Cater accepts every major credit card: Visa, American Express, Discover, and MasterCard.

What can Smart Cater offer me?

With a click of your mouse, you can browse through an abundance of catering options and view pricing on Smart Cater.

Our digital marketplace lets you choose from a list of great caterers and restaurateurs. You can ask for a custom proposal from a catering company or you can select an available package.

Smart Cater provides you with choices and complete control so you can make optimal, hassle-free decisions for your catering requirements.

Am I able to place an order from several caterers for a single event?

Absolutely! Integrate a dessert package with a dinner package, appetizer package, or a beverage package…the choice is yours! Multiple orders should be made on the same day.

Can you make any recommendations if I’m uncertain what to order?

Yes! Simply email support@smartcater.ca and we will send you customized suggestions for your event.

How do I place an order from Smart Cater?

There are 2 ways you can place an order from Smart Cater.

  1. On a package page, select "Order It!".
  2. At the bottom of a custom proposal, click "Continue to Checkout".

How fast should an order be placed with a caterer?

ASAP! Caterers have tight schedules and cut-off times for orders. As such, you don’t want to lose an opportunity to purchase your main choice because it took too long to make a decision.

How secure are my payment details with Smart Cater?

All transactions and credit card details are completely secure and safe on Smart Cater.

Standard security practices are adhered to as per industry requirements. Our site’s encrypted traffic uses SSL technology and our payment setup is PCI compliant.

How are payments made on Smart Cater?

You can use your credit card to make an order online on Smart Cater. Smart Cater then sends the payments straight to each caterer’s bank account.

How will a caterer confirm my order?

When a package is ordered, the caterer is asked to decline or accept it. They must make a decision within 24 hours of order placement (for the most part, responses are immediate). Upon paying for a custom order, you will receive confirmation for it right afterward.

What does a custom proposal entail?

A custom proposal is a personalized menu based on what you and the caterer have agreed on. You’ll be sent a custom proposal by the caterer which you can either approve or request modifications for.

What is the benefit of ordering a custom proposal, as opposed to a package?

Customers order custom orders when they have needs that need a personal touch, or if they want to modify a current package.

How can I obtain a custom proposal?

To receive a custom proposal, select "Contact Me!" on the profile of the caterer you want to order from. Explain precisely what you want so they can prepare a proposal based on your needs.

What does a package entail?

A package is an established menu with prices already set by the caterer. Items on the menu can be ordered without needing to engage with the caterer. Every package consists of, costs, and details of what is included, allowing you to compare your selections before placing an order.

What happens if I’m uncertain of the amount of people?

You can place an order for the minimum number of guests you anticipate. We recommend ordering immediately so you can secure a caterer for a specific date. From there, you can add more guests closer to the date of the event by asking the caterer for a custom proposal to pay for the additional guests. You must ask the caterer to learn how much time in advance you’ll require to accommodate the additional guests.

Will the food be set up by caterers?

Each package has its own food set-up. We suggest contacting the caterer to inquire about an individual package that interests you. Several meals are delivered, others are cooked on-site, and some are displayed.

If something is amiss, who should I get in touch with?

Contact support@SmartCater.ca as soon as possible if anything isn’t to your satisfaction. We will work with you to rectify the issue with the caterer immediately.

Am I entitled to a refund if I cancel?

Every caterer has their own cancellation policy, which you can see at the end of each package page. Although all policies differ, you will learn how far ahead you can cancel to determine if you’re entitled to a refund. Smart Cater manages every refund, so inform us immediately at support@smartcater.ca if you’re making a cancellation.

Can my order be canceled?

It can, but we discourage it. That said, we understand that things can arise out of your control. You can have an order canceled by sending an email to support@smartcater.ca immediately upon learning that a cancellation is necessary.
